Privacy Policy

This policy covers ProposeTimes, the Chrome extension for Google Calendar ("the extension").

The short version

The extension has no servers. We do not collect, store, transmit, sell, or share any of your data. Everything the extension does happens in your browser, or directly between your browser and Google.

What the extension accesses and why

• Google Calendar page content — the extension runs only on calendar.google.com, where it reads the visible calendar grid so you can drag time blocks on it. This never leaves your browser.
• Google account sign-in — if you choose to add hold events, the extension uses Chrome's built-in Google sign-in (OAuth) to request permission to create events. The resulting token is managed by Chrome and used only for requests from your browser directly to Google's Calendar API.
• Calendar events — with your permission, the extension creates (and can delete) the hold events you ask for on your primary calendar, and reads your calendar's timezone setting. It does not read your existing events.
• Settings — your formatting and hold preferences are stored locally in your browser (chrome.storage.local). They sync nowhere.

What we do not do

• No analytics, tracking, or telemetry in the extension.
• No data sent to ProposeTimes or any third party.
• No ads, no sale of data.
• No reading of your email, contacts, or existing calendar events.

How your data is protected

Security procedures are in place to protect the confidentiality of your data:

• Encryption in transit — all communication between your browser and Google's APIs uses HTTPS/TLS encryption. The extension never transmits your data over unencrypted connections.
• No external storage — because the extension has no servers and no database, there is no copy of your Google user data outside your own browser and Google's systems to be breached, leaked, or sold.
• Token security — OAuth access tokens are issued and stored by Chrome's built-in identity system (chrome.identity), not by the extension, and are never written to disk by the extension or shared with any party other than Google.
• Least privilege — the extension requests only the narrowest Google API scopes needed for its features (creating/deleting the hold events you request and reading your calendar timezone setting), and runs only on calendar.google.com.
• Local settings only — preferences saved via chrome.storage.local stay on your device, protected by your browser profile, and contain no Google user data.

Data retention and deletion

The extension retains no Google user data: nothing is stored outside your browser, so there is nothing for us to retain or delete on our side. Hold events you create remain on your Google Calendar until you delete them (via the extension's "Undo holds" or directly in Google Calendar). Locally stored preferences are deleted when you remove the extension, and you can revoke the extension's access to your Google account at any time (see "Revoking access" below).

Website analytics

This website (proposetimes.com) uses Google Analytics to understand aggregate visitor traffic — pages visited, referral sources, and approximate location. This applies only to the website; the extension itself contains no analytics. See how Google uses this data. You can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

Google user data

The extension's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Data obtained through Google APIs is used only to provide the user-facing features described above and is never transferred to others or used for advertising.

Revoking access

You can revoke the extension's access to your Google account at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions, and remove the extension via chrome://extensions. Removing the extension deletes its locally stored settings.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a new "last updated" date.
